Arrest and Booking: What Happens When You Get Arrested?

If you are arrested in Fairfield, you will be taken to the nearest jail or detention center, most likely the Solano County Justice Center Detention Facility at 500 Union Avenue, or any of the adult or juvenile detention centers in Solano County.

You will first be booked – your police record will be created for the first time or up updated if it is not your first time being arrested. You will be made to fully identify yourself. You will be asked many questions about the case and you will be photographed and your fingerprints will be taken.

Depending on the severity of the offense, you might be asked if you’d like to be temporarily be free on bail. Then you will be permitted to make one phone call. Use that call to get someone to post bail for you. Most likely it is your loved one. If he or she cannot pay the full bail, you may need the services of a bail bond agent.
This can be a very stressful time so we, at Leonard Padilla Bail Bonds, do our best to get you or your loved ones freed on bail as quickly and easily as possible.

How does Bail Work?

Bail is like collateral for a loan. You give the bail money or property to the court for safekeeping so you’ll be motivated to attend your court hearings. If you flee or skip your hearings, the court gets to keep the bail. If you follow the terms of the bail, the court will refund it to you at the end of your case proceedings (after the jury gives its verdict).

Sometimes the refunding process takes months after the case has been over – which can be frustrating, especially if you need to use the money for pressing concerns.

Sometimes, the bail can get so high you or your loved ones might not be able to pay the full bail at one go (leaving you in jail for the rest of your case proceedings).

It’s in cases like these that the services of a bail bond agent can be handy. For a fee (aka premium) of ten percent of the bail (maximum in California), the bail bond agent can post the bail for you.

How Do I Get a Bail Bond Agent?

Just call us at Leonard Padilla Bail Bonds (707) 639-1309.

Our over 30 years of bail bond service is known for being quick and efficient. Our agents are known for being trustworthy and friendly – something not many bail bond services can say for themselves.

You can arrange your bail by phone, by email or fax, or by having someone go to our office.

You and your co-signer first need to sign a contract with us. After signing the contract, you, your family or your co-signer pays the non-refundable bail bond premium (10% of the bail maximum in California). We accept most payment forms. The premium can still go down to 8% if you are a union member, either active or a veteran in the military, or have retained a lawyer.

Then we submit the bail bond and paperwork to the court and you will be released afterwards. The time it takes between the court’s receipt of the bail bond and your release depends on the particular jail/detention center you are in. As soon as we know where you were taken to, we will be able tell you how long it takes for that jail to release you after the receipt of the bail.

Payment Plans: What if I can’t afford the premium?

Sometimes the bail set by the court can be so high that even 10% of it is too much to pay at one go. In cases like that, Leonard Padilla Bail Bonds can create a payment plan favorable for your situation. Call us at(707) 639-1309. We are available 24 hours for you.

What Happens if I Don’t Appear in Court?

This can happen in two ways:

1. If you try to flee, the terms of the bail bond contract make you and your co-signer liable for paying the full bail back to the bail bond agent. You and your co-signer may also be made liable for bounty hunter expenses.

2. If you miss a hearing accidentally (due to oversleeping or forgetfulness), call your bail bond agent so they, together with your co-signer, can call the court. The court usually is lenient enough to reschedule a hearing.
